Kai was going to like this place, he knew that much as soon as the recruiters told him about all the great things it had to offer him. One thing that really sold him though was the massive gym the place held along with the resting area after the workout that he could go to. Keeping his body in top shape was always a top priority and the fact that the gym also carried a large pool and sauna to relax in after a hard workout helped seal to the deal to his fate at this school. When he got to his dorm he didn't even unpack before he was off to the gym to get a good workout that he hadn't done for days now because of the long trip.
At the gym he gave himself a good hard workout that lasted a few hours before his muscles finally gave up on himself and he couldn't pump them any harder. He felt the blood pump through the vein of his arms as he could barley even lift them to change in the men's change room. All he did though was undress himself and then wrap a towel along his waist at the most exciting part of the day was yet to come, the sauna. He could shower, unpack, get ready for school, and everything else later in the day when he had more energy for that. He wore himself harder today then he had in a very long time.
When Kai got the sauna he opened the door and noticed that nobody else was in there at the time. This surprised him because he was convinced that he would spend all the time in the world if he could there. As soon as he entered he could already feel the relaxing thick air massage his muscles and as he breathed in his lungs felt purified. Standing in the middle of the room he took one deep breath to truly appropriate the situation he was in before he slowly walked over to a bench and laid down on it. Although it was dangerous to fall asleep in this place, especially alone, he felt so relaxed that he couldn't help but to slowly close his eyes and drift off into another dreamy world.

If there was one thing you should not do at the Ashburn Academy, it was to trust people you didn't know. Wesley had learned that this generally applied to life in all aspects, the hard way. To let yourself take the defensive was to lose the offensive. His freshman year was hell- being thrown in with a bunch of other freaks who all wanted to find their home, Wesley spent much of his time wandering from place to place, people to other people, class to other class. It was a year to find what worked for him. What worked for Whitacre was what worked for him before. Wesley believed that what was best for him was to stick to his guns. He wasn't going to adopt a new policy of becoming a person who cares about whether other people are angry or sad with him. They were just pawns in his life. Stepping stones from one opportunity to another. This was how you got somewhere in life, not be being kind or compassionate.
When Wesley, wearing the typical towel, had gotten to the sauna that day, there room was as it should be when no one was there. Empty and just like every other room in the place. However, that was not the reason someone came to a sauna- to just sit in a normal room. So, he was quick to light the rocks hot. When they were sufficiently heated, he dumped the available water and watched at the steam hissed its way around the room. It was only a matter of seconds before the sauna became as it should be: relaxing, hot, sweaty, and almost lulling. His eyes glazed over as he sat alone in the room. He hadn't felt this relaxed in many months. Why was this his first time visiting the sauna? Wesley could definitely find a reason for coming back. He sighed deeply before he let himself fully relax. Closing his eyes, he wiggled atop the fence that was set up between sleep and wakefulness. In this state, Wesley's illusions began casting. He unknowingly threw a veil over himself. As he felt so relaxed, to the point of not existing in this world of suffering and plague, his body's image slowly disappeared.
While sleepy as he was, the little magician opened an eye as he heard someone come in. His image might have quivered, but it remained hidden all the same. He watched as the other male, clearly more physically apt than himself, relaxed and laid down on the bench. His mind raced with possibilities. Maybe he could steal something. No- there was nothing to steal but his towel. He could have done that in an attempt to humiliate, but it would have also been awkward. He almost sent some sort of horror to wake the boy, who knows what the crazy little illusionist could think of, but then stopped. A fact returned to him. He wasn't that strong. This stranger was. He would stand no chance in an actually physical encounter. His fighting skills were not great. More over, who knew what this other person could do. Wesley frowned. It wasn't something he did often, but he was going to do something possibly kind. Not for the sake of kindness but to further himself, but it was still unheard of. Instead of taking advantage of the sleepy stranger, he got up and nudge him instead, his spell of invisibility being broken.
"Hey wake up. It's not the best idea to be caught sleepin' in this school, ya know?"

Kai at the time was dreaming about laying on a beach at sunshine. Sure he could have gone to a beach here and done it without dreaming but he couldn't control his thoughts when in a dream, almost nobody could unless they had one of those superpowers he had heard about but never seen. Being from a very cold climate laying on a beach in the hot sun, only wearing a Speedo, was a very nice feeling. He was still half awake which was causing this vivid dream and the heat from the sauna coming off of him was what was giving him the feeling of being at that beach. It felt good and a wide grin was up on his face as he thought about it and slowly dozed into a deeper sleep then before.
Usually Kai was a slight sleeper so he was surprised to wake up to somebody nudging him and telling him it was a bad idea to go to sleep in this school. Usually if somebody were to open that door he would have woken up already but he didn't hear that door open. Still the guy must have entered on him sleeping and it made Kai realize perhaps it was more exhausted then he once thought he was. Kai just opened his eyes, his hands still folded over his chest and his back against the bench, taking the entire thing up. The warning this guy seemed to give him confused him a little though. This school seemed harmless enough to him, perhaps there was more he didn't know about yet such as ghosts or magical powers beyond Kai's understanding. "Wha's da worst that coul' happen right now? Dey steal ma towel?" That clearly wasn't a big deal to him. He acted as if he didn't even need one but how embarrassed would he be if someone actually did steal his towel?
He stayed awake for this fellow though. "I also live 'ere at the dorms so I sleep in school every day, ya?" A thick accent could be heard in his voice, somewhere European. Still he clearly had a lot of experience was English as he stills spoke the language fluently and understood Wesley perfectly as well. With saying that he still felt tired and lying in the position he was his eyes started to drift off again. He was so tired this probably wasn't the best place to stay at the moment.

Well, what have we here? Wesley raised an eyebrow at the only other person in the room. He wasn't an American, that was for sure. Wesley didn't know what he was. Maybe Russian. That'd be kinda cool. Weren't most Russians stereotyped to be physically large and domineering? That seemed to fit the bill. Wesley almost repeated again what he said for a second time so that the male could understand what he had said more clearly - maybe his foreignity had gotten in the way - but thought better of it. If Wesley was misunderstood, then surely this stranger wouldn't have been able to answer him so well. Yes. It must simply be that he was simply daft and didn't listen to the coolest cat in school. That wasn't good and a potential ally shouldn't be left to lay defenseless.
Getting restless, Wesley took the offensive. "Come on. Get up!" He prodded him in the shoulder with the heel of his foot. Wesley was one for drama, not physical contact. The skin on his feet seemed to crawl under which he had poked Kai. Clearly the sauna was a sauna, not a bedroom or a dorm or even a bench outside would have been a better place to find rest. After all, the rush hour of the sauna came in forty-five minutes or so and people at the school weren't always innocent. Wesley himself had to yank his own reins just to keep himself from getting psychological evil upon the large creature on the bench. "You are leaving. Sauna is closed."
To make his point, Wesley took the risk of becoming just as tired as his little friend here. Three deep breathes, then six more. With each breath, his jaw become more set. He got to the point where he was breathing through his mouth to keep the oxygen coming to him. He was creating a rather intense illusion. Much more difficult than simply getting another person to take him as part of the furniture in the sauna, he was acting upon the sense of touch He usually stayed away from this sense. Along with hearing, it generally resulted in a nosebleed later. Wesley was satisfied, though. While he had to keep his concentration in order to keep the illusion cast, he was subconsciously aware that the room had appeared to have dropped several degrees. Any stranger who had not yet been afflicted by Wesley's sphere of influence wouldn't have understood why the dark-skinned charlatan seemed as if he had forgotten his winter coat and teeth were chattering slightly. One could only hope that the foreigner on the bench could be easily influenced. It was not unheard of for Wesley to exhaust himself completely without it even bothering a telepath in the slightest bit. It was a gamble, his ignorance over Kai's abilities was greatly risky. "Let's go." He managed to mutter out between clasped lips. It wasn't planned to be so short, but Wesley sniffed to clear his sinuses of anything unpleasant and his spell was broken.
Grumbling, he complained about that being just the reason he didn't do niceness. It generally ended up with him getting so sidetracked by one goal or objective that he would even forget what the point behind it was. There wasn't much point in this case. If the foreigner wanted to go nudist throughout the school or maybe be the playtoy of hell-knows-what, that was up to him.

Kai was just about to enjoy falling back into his little dream sleep when he noticed that this young American, or he was going to guess from where he was and the guys accent that he was American, wouldn't give up on making him leave the sauna. He saw personally no reason why it would be a bad thing to stay in this sauna. It was after all one of the reasons he was sold in going to this school and so now that he got to enjoy it he wanted to make every use of it he could. He didn't need someone telling him he couldn't for really no good reason.
He tried to ignore the American when he started to poke him in the arm, pretending that he didn't even notice that rude awakening although he definitely noticed it. He didn't understand why he had to be out so badly. Wasn't this sauna opened for everyone that went to this school? Weren't they free to do what they wanted? When he was told that they were going to close early he just heard it as another excuse and opened his eyes again to look over at Wesley. "It is middle of day ya, why leave?" He knew this guy was lying because they wouldn't close the sauna for no reason in the middle of the day. He just wanted Kai to leave for some reason.
Suddenly Kai started to feel something cold. It was no longer nice and warm in this sauna, his skin reacted like he was outside in the winter without any clothes on. Did they actually just turn the entire thing off? He still had to get use to others at this school having different powers that could easily manipulate him to get him to do what they wanted. He still had to get use to a lot of things at this school. He had yet to meet anyone past his new roommate and this fellow here so he wasn't to fond of at the moment.
Getting up from his seat, Kai folded his arms in his chest and started to shiver as he rushed out of the room in his towel. Still having this particular power of feeling cold put on him once he excited the room even in the steamy shower room where he could see the steam evaporate onto his skin and should feel warm he felt nothing but cold. Wanting to get warm quickly he undid his towel and rushed to a shower turning the hot on full blast. Still not feeling anything he shivers there, his arms still wrapped around his chest, waiting for the warm water to come and save him before he froze to death. Not realizing the spell he was put under and how the water he was under was very hot to the point he was even burning his skin a little bit.

You're such a problem child! His father had once told him that, when Wesley had managed to do something wrong. He always seemed to be doing something incorrectly. Whether it was his use of the English language ( "Language is used for communication. If you do not use it intelligently, people will take note and you'll get nowhere in this life. People will not understand you nor want to decipher your jargon!" ), his clothing styles ( "Why must you wear such expensive clothing? Fifty dollars for a pair of jeans that have wear and tear already built into them is unreasonable!" or maybe even "I think my mother had a shirt like that..." ), his attitude toward his parents ( "I'm your mother! That is why you do have to do what I say- at least until you're eighteen. Then you can feel free to get out of my house!" ), or his lack of interest in academic studies ( "I do not understand you, Wesley Matthew Whitacre. You are clearly not lame-minded. You have the potential to be brilliant, and yet you waste your time hanging out with hooligans and junkies."), Wesley always managed to do something that would cause some sort of trauma. Practically by grade eight, he was ready to become his own bird and fly away from his nest which seemed to rest on a tree that was only doomed to catch flame.
This was apparently still the case today. Obviously Wesley's only push to be someone useful to society was his parents' constant bitching at him whenever he screwed up. What was there here? Headmistress Burke? Possibly the slightly less responsible Professor Calamia? He didn't care what they had to say, honestly. Westles was perfectly content with barely scraping by in school. So long as he wasn't expelled there was no reason to worry. While philosophy was far above Wesley's rate of mind, in a way he was searching for a better reason to keep living. Currently he was finding that short-term pleasures and interests were those things that kept him there. Suicide was not an option, but life was gaining in tedium lately. A life in otiose behaviour seemed more and more luring. Sleep seemed more important to consciousness. Like a buoy upturned, Wesley felt sick in the fact that life was listless even as a "superhero". Super villain? Either way it was astounding that this depressing intolerance for life at a stand-still hunted and preyed upon all.
This was not what Wesley had expected at all. His head was spinning. He'd really exhausted himself through the feat that would just require an extensive amount of other troubles. He hadn't thought the temperature had dropped quite that low, but apparently it either affected Kai greater than it did himself or it sucked so much out of him he seemed to become magically numb. Successful with getting the foreigner out of the sauna room, Wesley had mentally patted himself on the back, but his weary smile had dropped and his eyes opened. Was that the shower? Why would it be needed? It was probably hot in the shower room to begin with. Some of the sauna's heat was often detectable if you got near enough to door. Usually he was in control of his illusions enough to have it not have affected the foreigner when he had his goal achieved, but there were always loopholes.
Wesley had paused while listening with his ears the best he could, leaning against the wall. Steam came from only one shower nearby, automatically telling him which of them it was necessary to suspect. Maybe there was nothing wrong and Kai had simply wished to clean himself of sauna-sweat?. It was not something Wesley was comfortable with. Generally asexual in practice, rushing in to make sure a largely fit man he hardly even knew was not melting his skin with raw, hot water wasn't up there on his of things to do. He hadn't eaten authentic Chinese food yet, which was #43 on his list, and rescuing wet men from showers were much further down. Still, after some hesitation, he rushed in. What he saw was gross to even him. Not so much the fact that Kai was clothes-less bothered him so much as the fact that he was shivering while water was steaming against to ceiling and walls. It was like a strange horror movie that preyed upon the mind rather than the stomach. "Oh gods...lessee..." He spoke strangely, as he went to work moving across the area without letting the water touch him as much as he could. He still got wet, and hissed as it burned him. Okay, so he wasn't numb, at least. He managed to get the water off after messing with the handles and avoided looking in Kai's direction out of humility.
What was there to do now? Honestly, Wesley never paid attention to first aid classes and what were to happen if he couldn't get his illusion to let go of the stranger he'd so quickly attacked? It seemed to have a mind of its own or something. His mind said his illusions were off, but apparently that wasn't the case. He shook his head violently as if threatening his mind, but that only caused him to swoon once. He staggered over to the shower door. He did not want to leave in the case that Kai still was inflicted with whatever was crazying him up, but he also needed to think about what he should do. He never paid attention to health classes. What were you supposed to do with that sort of injury? "Don't worry. I'll figure out something." It was probably addressed to Wesley himself more than the foreigner. What a lovely idea it would have been if he hadn't caused it, but Kai himself had. It would have been a dirty trick. Even Wesley drew the line somewhere— when it concerned him, that was. He still placed a value on human life.
[Oh hell. I'm sorry I rambled out a ton more random shit that I expected.
P.S. Lol at "Westles".]

(Sorry, thought his power worked on individual person not in a controlled area, oh well, lets go with it) As Wesley undid his power while Kai was under the showers while it was scolding hot he suddenly felt the burn touch his skin and quickly jumped out of the way of the movie shower as Wesley seemed to want him to do. As he moved he felt the burn on his back. It wasn't that bad of a burn, it wasn't even second degree, but still it hurt from the impact of before so he turned on the water all the way to cold and then walked back into the shower so he could get his back under the water. Still he felt uneasy about being under this plumbing. He was unaware that what he was feeling was because of Wesley's powers and thought that the reason he was feeling all of these feelings was because of the really poor plumbing and electricity at this place. From the outside this school seemed to be in tiptop condition so to suddenly have these surprises confused him. He was looking forward to using the sauna, pools, and showers for the gym quite often at this place but if he couldn't trust it then how could he continue here? He would have to figure that out later.
Seeing Wes panic around him about the burn Kai just flipped his head and laughed. "Is no worry. It is just small burn ya?" He showed Wes the red mark on his back, it was red but it wasn't bring pink which showed that it wasn't any big deal about what happened. He would just put a big of cold water on it and let it heal throughout the day, perhaps spend the rest of the day taking it easy instead of trying out everything new to him at this school. He could continue his exploring another day. Perhaps even head back to the sauna tomorrow when it wouldn't close down for no reason.
After putting his back under the cold shower for a bit longer he finally turned it off and walked towards the change room and a locker, hopefully getting West to follow him close behind. "We will go have fun? You and me are friends now." To him everyone he met were automatically friends, especially Americans and he generally told them that out loud as soon as he met them as a statement instead of asking them or beating around the bush. He knew he often intimidated others from his size, he wasn't completely oblivious to his surroundings, so calling them a friend made them feel easier afterwords. "I am Ki. You are?"

(I honestly don't care. Who says gift's have to be the same to every person who experiences it? I wasn't too clear or sure on it myself. I think improvising as you go along is part of the greatness of RPing that I have lost in my years doing it...)
Well, Kai's muscles seemed to protect him from burns as well as any firefighter's uniform, it seemed. The water seemed to be too hot for Westley, but then again he had always hated the heat. His parents had always joked about moving him to Alaska or some other far-away nation. Even still, Westley wasn't built very durably. Either in mind or body he was strangely average in true essence. Someone once told him that he had more of a runners body. Some said things that were best left forgotten. They weren't true- most of the time. If they were, it wasn't worth the stress. It amazed the illusionist how little control he still had over his illusions when he went overboard. His mind was trying to get him to shake - surely that was the feeling in the air around him? - but Westley was able to shrug the feeling off for now. Sure it was the furthest he'd gone in a while, but maybe he just needed to get in mental "shape". A bowling ball might have as well hit him in the head for all it was worth.
"All right, well, no scars at least." Wesley tried to joke back to the best of his ability. He never understood what the physically godly got out of showing their body off so freely. It was almost cocky. Westley was generally the one who did cocky- or at least catty. It didn't matter to him that someone else was proud of the way they looked, but it was foreign. How fit, pun intended, for it to be someone from another country to be the one to bring new experiences to the bored Gifted. "Yeah. I guess it doesn't look too bad." At any rate, the kid didn't seem to blame him any, though in reality it was all completely and unfalteringly his fault. Things just seemed to role that way, and that was okay with him. With his generally bitchy attitude, Westley was used to being blamed for things, even to the point of taking credit for a prank or cruel joke that he hadn't even done. If it got him out of another horrible math lecture about the importance of graphing hyperbolas, he was not going to argue with a detention. It was weird to not be pointed at about the whole thing or at least for someone to not be vindictive about it. Westley had followed Kai, into the changing room after waiting about, to give the boy- No. Boy seemed too childish a word whereas man was technically incorrect with the age-limits it required. Westley had wished to give the gentleman, that worked as far as he knew of Kai as of yet, his space. He didn't want to feel like he was creeping on the new kid. He'd already rushed into his shower, which was awkward in itself. He had walked over to a locker which had held his things before he dressed himself. He felt a bit damp yet, but didn't care too much.
"The name is Westley Whitacre." He tried to say it slowly without making it sound as if he were assume Kai had some sort of mental defect. His name might have been weird to him. After all, West couldn't help but to think of Japan when he heard the name "Kai." I'm just about to fall over from the amount of fun we've had already. What a bonding experience, huh?" Sarcasm played like a finely tuned cello upon the lips of the gifted. It wasn't harmful sarcasm though. It was sly, like a fox's youth. While one of them might have the potential to become malicious, if properly engaged and entertained a problem would not become. "What did you have in mind for 'fun'?" Someone who seemed to be roughly the size of a monster truck without looking hideous seemed to be the type of person that would have their fun consisting of lifting the contestants of The Biggest Loser. Or something of that sort. Westley's type of fun was generally less interesting on one end (listening to loud music in his dorm while doing something else) or less legal on the other.
