"So, Alex, is it?" Collin took another quick sip of water, enjoying its cooling effect. "What brings you to the courtyard on a Saturday?" During the weekends, most Academy students spent their time in the city, shopping and eating and the like. It was usually very rare to spot a student on the grounds when one could just as easily be hanging out among civilization.
Then again, he too was not in town. He supposed he'd never really had anyone to go with. He'd been attending the Academy for 3 years, and yet he'd never truely befriended anyone. Sure, he talked to everybody; that was just his nature. Yet he couldn't really think of calling any of the students "friends". The thought depressed him; he'd always been a friendly, outgoing guy. Perhaps discovering his abnormality had changed him.
Collin sighed inwardly, and made a choice; he would make a friend. How had he gone on this long without any? He looked at Brandon and Alex, and supposed both would be worthy candidates. He realized just how pathetic these thoughts were, but didn't care. He had just found a new mission for the year.

Alex glanced at the two of them, then down at the grass that was now slowly stopping. She leaned her head back against the tree once more, sighing deeply. With a small smile, she set the pen and journal at her sides, thinking about what she was doing here on a Saturday. The tree's support completely vanished, making her shout out, "Woah!" before crashing to the ground, flat on her back. The sky above her was spinning a little bit, but calm still. She threw her hands up in the air and barked, "Peachy effin' perfect!"
The tree looked like it'd grown through her stomach for hundreds of years instead of her just falling through it. With a groan, she rolled to the side, moving away from the tree and laying in the cool grass. Still, she muffled out the reply, "I was writing." She pressed her hands on the ground and did a push-up to get up on her hands and knees once more. Alex stumbled up to standing position, taking several deep breaths before glancing over at Brandon and saying, "Just don't ever say something like that again... I have great aim." [/blockquote]

Hearing Collin's question, he shrugged.
"Felt like getting books thrown at me by telepathic teenage girls. I'm hard to entertain, ya know?"
Smart-assed answer, but he thought it funny and should these two become his friends, or even close aquaintences, they'd have to get used to it.
He almost moved to help Alex up, automatically, but he stopped himself. He knew that sometimes, people who could phase could transfer that into someone else, and he didn't feel like digging himself out of a hole. Instead, he showed his concern by asking the obvious.
"Are you okay?"
When she got up and threatened him, he paled a bit, but rmained steady, ready to jump out and catch the weakened girl if she fell again.
"Say what? I have no idea what you're talking about, Alex. None at all."
Brandon threw in an innocent smile to sell it.
