A beach can't always be sunny. The world needed rain to grow. And each person needed rain of their own. A sad day to prove just how great the good once can be. But, most people didn't see the beauty and raw power that rain had. The sun was tucked behind grey clouds, hidden from society. Rain doused the beach, soaking the loose sand and making hundreds of thousands of ripples among the waves of the salt water ocean. No one was outside. Why should they go out and sacrifice themselves to the rainy day?
Because to Alexandra Connor, that's the best time to see the world. It was at its prime. The time to see the world while it hid from just a bit of change. She walked along the beach, holding her Red Converse in her hands as she was doused by the warm rain. A grin was stitched onto her lips, her eyes glistening with joy. The rain to her was a haven from sunshine and people. Just what she needed.
Alex took a deep breath, rain rolling down her face. The makeup was gone, her black hair was clung to her scalp, but the smile she never had around people was home once more. "Rain, rain, everyday. Screw you sun, stay away," she sang to herself as she twirled in a small circle whilst she walked. Her eyes trailed to the ocean that was ravaged by the sea. Waves began to get violent and wild. Her excitement grew as she stopped, walking to the water's edge. She wouldn't go in at all, but just wanted to be at least close to the shear and awesome power of the ocean.
Water rolled and licked at her feet, a refreshing reminder that there was a world outside of this Academy. But, it was a reminder that they were banished her for being different. "I like it. This Gift... Right? I could be a hero... Maybe." A smile spread over her lips. She'd always dreamt of being a superhero, but have Superman powers or something. And being able to control them at the very least. [/size]

Beaches had lots of water. On a rainey day, even more.
Brandon used to hate the rain. As a child, it'd ruin his plans to g outside and play. He'd usually fuss with his parents to let him go out anyway, but they wouldn't, saying he'd get sick.
Now?
The rain didn't bother him. When it rained, Brandon felt at home more than ever, a simple pleasure that calmed him more than made him happy.
The ocean called to him. He felt it in his bones as he stood out in the water, feet immersed in the cold sand. The tide came in, the tide went out. Every time the waves hit him, he'd stop the water in it's path a few feet around him, and made it dance.
Eventually, he focused and shifted in to Form Aqua, his hair becoming a shade or two lighter and his eyes becoming a dark blue.
The rain came into to join his dance, as he began to twirl around, making the water come out of the ocean and into the air around him. He guided it around him, circling him. He whipped out the water into a long tendril, then spread it out, pulling the water up from the ocean and down from the rain into a massive bubble which he pushed out six feet from his body all around. His arms spread wide, his hed bowed, it was the final act.
He picked his head up, and clenched his hands into fists, freezing the entire dome of water. With a grunt, he raised his arms and picked up the ice bubble, and with a final motion, slammed it back on the ground, creating an icy mist all around.
The ocean was his home. He was the ocean and the rains.

Peace is a delicate and fragile thing. For a moment, Alex had it, but it was soon shattered by fear. A prickling cold chilled her bones as mist rolled over her. Her breathing stopped as soon as the mist took over her sight. Alex slowly backed away from the water, bending down into a crouch to try and get a better sight of anything but just the mist. Her precious knives were back at home, but with telekinesis, anything could be a weapon at the right speed. She held her shoes tighter in her hands as she readied herself.
Alex closed her eyes, focusing on what all she saw before the mist came along. Wet branches, leaves, flowers--the environment. She took a deep breath, picturing a few sticks she'd seen earlier. Slowly from the forests they began to come to her, her telekinesis at work. About ten branches hovered in the air over her head. "Go," she said softly, speaking to the branches. At first, they moved in a tight, slow circle; but with each passing second, the circle became wider and faster. Within a few moments, the branches were making a perfect circle, searching for the target.
It was a technique she practiced that she referred to as Sonar. Once one of the sticks hit and fell, she'd know which direction the thing was, and how far away depending on how much focus it was taking to keep the sticks rotating. She'd learned this from her Math class actually. "A useless subject finally got some good," she had thought the first time she figured it out.
Faster and faster the sticks spun, awaiting to hit the target. Alex sat on her hands and knees in the sand, concentrating on moving the sticks.

The mist fell, and Brandon went back to normal, the loss of all that power and control nearly painful but it relieved his body of a lot of tension.
So calming, that he only noticed the stick hitting him in the shoulder after it hit him.
He noticed this with a loud "ow!"
Automatically, he shifted back into Form Aqua, and pulled water from the ocean into a large shield like shape around in front of him, turning his back to the water.
"Who's out there?"

The loud "Ow!" was a symbol of victory. Her eyes flashed open, to see the mist completely gone and the boy--the one she'd seen over a million times now standing there. She stood up, anger raging through her. "What the hell is your problem?!" she screamed, storming toward him. The sticks stopped spinning but followed her thanks to her rage effecting her Gift.
"Do you like stalking me? Or maybe you just like blinding people while there taking a walk!" Alex accused angrily, standing right in front of him. "You and your water stuff messing up the rain--who do you think you are?!" Alex said once more. She wasn't truly mad, just scared, and had hoped for some peace for a little bit and that now seemed like it wasn't happening.
With a sigh of rage she held her shoes even tighter, turning away from him. Just as quickly, she whipped around and glared at him before asking,"Are you following me?" [/blockquote]

Brandon dropped the sheild and started laughing.
"Oh, hi Alex. Shoulda known it was you. Nobody else throws telekinetic fastballs like you do.
The boy shrugged when asked why he was out here. The usual friendly smile was gone and replaced by an uncomfortable, unsure look.
"You wouldn't understand. The water... my gift is element control, you know that. And it just...calls to me. This is where I like to practice my control over my Gift. The ocean, the rain... it feels like I'm... some higher power and every drop is something I can control. Its the best place for me to think. Kinda like you, I bet."
He talked softly, completely different than usual. Brandon felt a little angry, but it wasn't the usual flaming rage he occasionally felt. It felt cool inside of him.
It finally hit him why that was.
She saw a part he didn't usually show, and she wasn't even his friend. Hell, she barely spoke to him and when she did, it was usually yelling at him.
"You're out here cuz you hate people and like to be alone. Well, this is where I come to to be alone as well. I don't stop the rain, Alex. I just make it move. Just like you with your sticks, knives, books, and whatever else you usually toss at me."

A blush raced across Alexandra's cheeks, her teeth clenching together angrily. "That is not why I'm out here! Don't pretend you know me!" She crossed her arms, water from the rain pouring down even harder. Her hands shook lightly, but she didn't make a motion to leave the conversation. After a pause, she said bitterly, "I'm out here for freedom. The rain is free and doesn't have to listen to rules... You were controlling it and changing it, okay?"
She sighed a bit, running a hand through her mopped down hair. With a small glare, Alex bit her inner lip. "And you blinded me! The mist shit?! Do you realize how scary that is?!" [/blockquote]

Brandon threw her a cold look to match her glare. He wasn't backing down easily. She attacked him because she was paranoid.
"You have no idea, Alex. Rain has rules. It's always got to come down, and then go back up. Rain isn't free. In fact, it's the farthest thing from it. Evaporation, Condensation, Precipitation. In a forever cycle. It's a slave of nature. If anything, I freed the rain from it's usual master. "
He shook his head, an apologetic, slightly sad looking smile creeping on his lips.
"I didn't mean to frighten you, Alex, and I'm sorry for it."
Brandon waited for her to yell back at him, because that was her way, it seemed, at least around him. And the sad part?
It was almost to a point where he was beginning to like it. The elemental was growing used to her usual angry demeanor, coming to rely on it because everytime they met was bound to stay interesting.
Who knows? If she'd stop attacking him, if he could go without provoking her, maybe they could just get along.
